Democrats filed formal Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) Requests with the Staten Island D.A. and the Staten Island Borough President's Office for records relating to Dan Donovan's communication with convicted felon Bernard Kerik and other mob-linked individuals associated with Interstate Industrial.

A Kerik email specifically named Donovan as a player in his successful bid for city contracts for a mob-linked company under investigation. soon after, Donovan received and accepted a large campaign contribution from the mob-linked garbage hauling company.
